Neill Roshto, Horn
Neill Roshto is currently a doctoral student at the University of Kentucky. As a performer, Neill has performed with a number of orchestras including the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, Quincy Symphony Orchestra, Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, and the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra. Along with professional groups, Neill has been the principal horn in the University of Louisiana Monroe Wind Ensemble, Western Illinois University Wind Ensemble, Western Illinois University Orchestra, University of Kentucky Wind Symphony, and the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. In years previous, Neill also marched three seasons with the Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle corps and was a soloist in their 2018 production. In addition to larger ensemble groups, Neill has performed with a number of chamber groups and currently performs with the University of Kentucky Graduate brass quintet and the Rose Street Brass Quintet. He is also an active freelancer in the Central Kentucky region.
As an educator, Neill has worked with numerous marching bands across Louisiana, Arkansas, and Kentucky including bands such as Ouachita High School, El Dorado High School, H.L. Bourgeois High School, and Lafayette High School (KY). He was also a member of the Southwind Drum and Bugle corps brass education team during their historic 2023 season. Neill also served as a graduate assistant with the Western Illinois University athletic bands. He has also been a counselor at the Western Illinois University Legacy of Leadership Camp since 2023. In addition to working with marching bands, Neill conducted the West Ouachita High School concert band during their 2022 District Assessment earning an Excellent rating on stage and a Superior rating in sight reading. Neill currently has a studio of private lesson students in the Lexington area and has worked as a teaching assistant with the University of Kentucky Horn studio.
Neill holds a Bachelors degree in Instrumental Music Education from the University of Louisiana Monroe and a Masters degree in Horn Performance from Western Illinois University. His primary horn teachers include James Boldin, Jena Gardner, Randall Faust, and Melanie Kjellsen. He is also a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha, and the International Horn Society.
